Overview

Founded in 1769, the Royal Academy of Arts is the country’s oldest art school and their Grade II* listed home is located on Piccadilly. The project will see the transformation of the RA Schools space to provide a fully accessible, flexible and high-quality work environment for its staff and students.

Through careful restoration and enhancement of the historic building fabric, new facilities and contemporary spaces are being provided. The works involve extensive structural alterations and the replacement of existing glazing and roof finishes to the Shaw Studios. A new studio suite and workshops will be introduced along with a new library and leisure facilities. The building will also be made more accessible through the introduction of a new DDA-compliant entrance to the RA Schools.
