We would like to introduce Paul Crouch, assistant quantity surveyor on our Arding & Hobbs project. Paul has been with Knight Harwood for a year since joining as a graduate in quantity surveying and commercial management, which he studied at Nottingham Trent University. For Paul, the appeal of the Knight Harwood graduate scheme is that it is unique in offering him exposure to all areas of the delivery team, including building services engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, and health and safety. Having stints in each of these fields has allowed Paul to appreciate and understand how each role impacts the construction of a project and how they link into the quantity surveying field.

One of Paul’s motivations for pursuing a career in construction was the pride he takes in knowing that he has helped to create a building that will be used and appreciated by many people for years to come. He enjoys seeing the upfront procurement work that we do and how this develops into a finished product. Paul has found working on the Arding & Hobbs project within an iconic building in Clapham Junction very exciting. We are repurposing the building to become both office and retail space to rejuvenate the area while retaining original Grade II listed features.

Paul enjoys many of the elements of his work at Knight Harwood, including managing contractors’ accounts and analysing tenders to ensure we get the best price to the specifications outlined. He also particularly enjoys the social activities that Knight Harwood has to offer, such as team and company events. This has recently included a whole-company softball day in Regent’s Park, team socials, and exercise classes.

During his time off, Paul enjoys meeting up with his friends and playing five-a-side football at the weekend. He also enjoys going to Champions League games during the week.
