Our Head of Finance, Charlie Everett, talks us through his team’s approach to their work.

Our approach is simple, to support the business in achieving its goals whilst providing concise, accurate and timely reporting.

As an organisation, we are proud of the culture we have created. How is this demonstrated by your team?

Many aspects of the broader Knight Harwood culture resonate strongly within the Finance Team – particularly attention to detail and the importance of team working. Imbedded within the culture of the team is the “can-do” attitude. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and add-value in all areas of our work.

How do you utilise innovation within the finance team?

We are constantly looking at ways to provide innovation and improve processes within the finance team. Various system changes leading to greater automation have been implemented throughout the past six months. We are now looking at the use of new data visualisation software as a potential solution to improve and speed up the reporting function. Working in line with Knight Harwood’s sustainability guidelines, we are aiming to become a far greener department in 2023.

What measures do you put in place to ensure that the team stays up to date with qualifications and updates in your area?

The finance team, other than I, are all currently studying for their professional accounting qualifications. Being a member of ACCA myself, I will be providing assistance and mentorship throughout the team’s studies. 

How do you celebrate team achievements?

Accountants aren’t allowed to have fun!!! The last team social was in December, and we are planning another get together before the end of Q1! It’s not all work and no play!!!
