We would like to introduce Alex Tarrant, who joined Knight Harwood ten years ago as part of our graduate scheme after completing his degree at Loughborough University. During his final year at university, Alex visited Knight Harwood several times, experiencing live construction sites and meeting various team members. The sheer variety of schemes caught Alex’s attention, and the opportunities posed by being exposed to the various engineering complexities and the array of incredible finishes from one project to the next appealed to him.

Alex is currently working on our second project for the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The construction of two state-of-the-art new buildings for the club to deliver world-leading media and editing facilities for broadcasters attending the annual Wimbledon Championships. In his role as Project Manager on another of Knight Harwood’s high-profile projects, the regeneration of BAFTA’s headquarters, 195 Piccadilly, Alex oversaw all design elements for the entire project from design issue sequence to sample sign off. He notes the lifting of the two existing rooflights as a particular highlight of the project, with a great deal of planning going on behind the scenes, culminating in the perfectly executed raising of the two intricate Victorian structures.

Being involved in the regeneration of BAFTA is a real highlight for Alex in his time with Knight Harwood. Building arguably one of the best theatres in the country, creating a space that looks, sounds and feels fantastic is a result of the numerous design workshops and testament to the excellent team involved.
